The Hunting Residence is located in the well-known game reserve of Karakus in North Eastern Bulgaria some 20 km from the Town of Silistra and the Danube near the village of Irnik. The unique geographic features of this region are major prerequisite making it one of the best locations for ecological and hunting tourism in Bulgaria. With its various species of plants, plenty of lakes and vast mountain fields, the place offers excellent conditions for thorough recreation during all seasons. The proximity of two fishing lakes provides perfect opportunities for one-day outings.
Hunting ground of Karakus is also situated in this area occupying 6.000 hectares, where dears, hinds and boars are being bred as main subject of the hunting tourism. Special facilities have been set up to service this type of tourism featuring convenient vantage points for the hunters enabling them to observe and shoot down game. There is a high-grade, year-round passable asphalted road leading to the hunting residence.
The building was constructed in the period 1979-1980 as a hunting residence. It is a two-story monolithic concrete steel structure with brick masonry. The building’s total built-up area is 400 sq.m. distributed among three floors. Parking with capacity of 20 cars is located next to the building.
The ground floor holds a entrance foyer, living room /restaurant with twenty sitting places, premises for service and security staff, storeroom. On the first floor there are 6 double bedrooms fully furnished. Another four rooms are on the second floor. The rooms along with the other premises feature an unique furnishing that underlines the hunting nature of the building, and that impression is confirmed by the various trophies hung on the corridors and the living room. All rooms are equipped with TV-sets and phones.
Quite impressive in terms of interior design is the conifer-based wainscot throughout the house and mainly in the living room, which occupies 150 m² and is equipped with TV-set, DVD player, audio system as well as detached cozy places with soft pieces of furniture. The massive fireplace emphasizes the emphatic Bulgarian style dominating in that room. A large covered loggia terrace on the first floor offers a splendid view towards the mountain slopes and the whole neighborhood. The building is fully electrified and powered by a 20/0.4 kV transformer and back-up diesel generator. Water mains is available as well.
